Bannock and Tea Events
The Edmonton Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee holds "Bannock and Tea" noon hour sessions at City Hall to promote cross-cultural awareness among Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Edmontonians. Previous sessions included a presentation by Lorraine Sinclair sharing cultural values and principles, and wholistic teachings; and a session by Lewis Cardinal about "Indigenous World View vs Western World View".

The purpose of the "Bannock and Tea" sessions is to help build bridges and foster positive working relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in Edmonton. Invitations are extended to the Mayor and Edmonton City Council, city employees, Aboriginal organizations and the general public. Everyone is welcome to attend.

In traditional social gatherings among indigenous people, guests are welcome into one’s home, or during social activity, with servings of bannock and tea. To honour this tradition, the Edmonton Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee will make these available for all participants at our “Bannock and Tea Gatherings".

2007 Bannock and Tea Lunch
This year's Bannock and Tea Lunch will be held on May 22, 2007, at 11:30 am. The event will take place in the City Room at City Hall. For more information, please view/download the 2007 Bannock and Tea invitation. (PDF FILE)
